Warm Hands - originally posted 02/09/09

Lately I have been complaining of being cold at work and last week I decided to do something about it. I made R.(my boss) and I each a pair of fingerless gloves. I didn't have a pattern, so just tried to match them to my hand. Her's are the red ones and mine are the blue ones. Mine for some reason, turned out larger than her's using the exact pattern & needles. I may redo them before next winter, but for now - they do the job.

  1. Yeah!!!! You've enter the blog-o-sphere!!!! I'll be adding you to my list of favorites!!!!
  2. Thanks! Hope it is interesting enough! And that I remember to keep it up! I know I love yours!

  3. Woohoo! Another blogger :-) I like those fingerless gloves. I need a Snuggie and a pair of those, and I will be happy!

  4. I can't remember, do you knit or just crochet? These are knit & I created the pattern as I went along, but it wouldn't be too hard to do them in crochet either.

  5. I started to teach myself to knit, but only got as far as being comfortable with the "knit" stitch. I can make a scarf, that's about it! Crocheting came much more naturally to me, partially because I wanted to make some cute amigurumi creations so badly!

  6. I learned to crochet at 6 years old from a blind woman my grandmother took care of - her name was Mrs. Morton. Didn't know how to read patterns though.

At 10, I took a knitting class with my mother & learned to read patterns (so then could teach myself to read crochet patterns) - but never finished that 1st sweater we bought all the yarn for.

Then I pretty much only crocheted until I was in my 20's - when my mil decided to make the kids all a hat & mittens in a 1 week visit. The girls fit fine, but E's hat was way too big (would have even been too big on D!) and so I took it back out after she left & redid it. And I was then hooked on knitting.

I prefer afghans & such to be crochet (although I might change that now that I have learned to hide the ends better! At least when using 1 color) and for sweaters & such to be knit.
