Blogger Buddy Award - originally posted 3/11/10

Well my friend The Mamma Has Spoken is giving out Blogger Buddy awards to all her followers who chose to follow her example & tell 10 things about themselves that you probably don't know about. I don't know if I can find 10 things that I haven't talked about, but will try:

1. I have 3 siblings (2 brothers & 1 sister - all younger, of course), but I am the only child from my mother's 1st marriage.

2. I lived in many different houses before I was 4 1/2 years old, but only 3 since.

3. I used to cry my eyes out growing up when my mother would kill the rabbits we raised to help feed the family. It was my job to care for them & then she would make me hold them up by their back feet while she broke their necks & then skinned them. I could never eat them.

4. I was once told that if I asked God to bring back my father, he would. So when I was really unhappy with my life growing up, I would go outside, lay down on the ground & cry, scream & beg God to bring my Daddy back to me - he never did, except that when I talked to his picture that was on the wall, I could swear he would smile at me & tell me everything would be all right.

5. The church I grew up in didn't allow make-up but when I was 12, I let a girl named Shelly put make-up on me - including black mascara & eyeliner. I didn't get it all off before I got home & I got into serious trouble over it.

6. I had a crush on a guy named G as a teenager. Two things really ended it on my part - I grew taller than him & he started working as a mortician - I was terrified that I would die in Wichita & he would be the one to prepare me for burial. I didn't even know where he worked!

7. I started learning to drive when I was 12 years old. My step-dad would pull over when we went to visit family in the country & have me take the wheel - it was a stick shift on the column also.

8. I am terrified of snakes, sharks & heights. But I never was afraid of heights until I was about 10 years old. I used to climb trees, up on roofs of sheds, helped roof my parents & grandmother's home, etc. Then one day I threw a frisbee onto the roof, climbed up to get it & couldn't get down. Snakes - as close as I can tell, I have always been terrified of them. Sharks seem to have always been there in some form also since I didn't even like seeing the Jonah & the whale picture in the family bible.

9. My cousin & I once woke up in the middle of the night, Christmas Eve, & ate 3-4 pies between us. But I think I only ate 1, she ate the others.

10. When D & I were dating, he worked a lot of evenings, so since I would be in serious trouble if he called our house when he got off at midnight, I would stay up & call him. Then we would talk until about 3-4 am, then I would get up for school at 7.

I am suppose to give this award to 10 more people but I only have 3 followers, so anyone who wants to do it, go for it. Link it back to me & maybe even tell me that you did so that I can find out 10 things about you that I might not know already.

  1. I have to agree on the snakes, they're not my favorite either. I cried when I read about your dad and the rabbits, that is so sad!

  2. Thanks B! I didn't mean to make anyone cry though! Just I tell so much that it is hard to think of things that people don't know for something like this. I am pretty sure A does know at least most of them.

  3. G sounds like a real hoot... and number 10 is very cute :)
