Today I am off work! The office smelled better yesterday, but S
was still waiting for the insurance people to come by. I spent the
morning taking an inventory and then getting our cost on that inventory.
Don't know why I never even thought of doing it on Wednesday, but I do
know that Wednesday night I thought of it, then told myself at first
that I didn't need to take an inventory since I had just taken one on
Friday - but then I realized we had 2 days of shipping product out
before the fire. Most of it was straight forward, but there were a
couple products that I had to add other things to, to get our cost.
The
word seems to be that they think the fire started in a barrel behind
the building that caught fire. Either someone was trying to get warm or
it was arson. Don't know what that does to things, if anything now.
Had
heard that the lawyer who had to move his law office after the hostage
situation earlier this month (because of the tear gas the police used)
had moved into 1 of the buildings that have now been involved in this
fire - so he is once again looking for a place to rent & a
secretary was once again working on the sidewalk outside the office -
something she had done earlier in the month before they had been offered
the 2nd office.
R
seems to have had a bit of an issue getting to Corpus Christi from
Dallas - something about needing to count the # of passengers on board.
But she made it & her mom made it through her surgeries. They
only did the valve repair & valve replacement. Said she didn't
need the bypass after all. I don't remember exactly which day she was
to be dismissed, but that was the day that Rs dad was to have his cataract surgery.
S
& I both had trouble remembering that yesterday was Thursday.
At one point during the day, he mentioned that we would probably be
given Friday off & then when I asked him at the end of the day,
he said to come on in, but not to plan to stay long - I just thought he
had changed his mind and since they are still paying us - that would be
his prerogative.
But I got a text message last night from R saying that he had
thought today was Thursday, so to go ahead & take the day off
& come in Monday. I will probably go in after a bit here to
water our plants for the weekend, refile the files I pulled out
yesterday & then got sidetracked & didn't get refiled
and to turn off our computers for the weekend.
Weather
was a high of 78 degrees on Monday and now it is already down to 26
degrees and they are forecasting snow. I heard it is to be somewhere
between 6-15 inches and they are calling it a blizzard. So far, no
snow, but that could change still. Today is supposed to be when I get
A for her special time, but if it starts snowing, I think I will
cancel. I know we could do things here, but I also know that it might
not be wise to have her here and then to try to drive her 13 miles back
home if we have 15 inches on the ground. It's been a few years since we
have had that much. But on the other hand - I do have 3 movies, we
could maybe get more or watch ones from my collection and knit on our
machines & order in pizza. Will just have to see how I think it
looks by the time she would be out of school.
S has
said that we might get next week off with pay. If I knew for sure that
we would, I think I would see if it would be feasible to go see my mil
for a few days. But since he has said to at least come in Monday, then I
don't think I had better do it unless I get a different message. The
best ticket seemed to be from Sunday to Thursday of this week when
A was looking them up for me yesterday. And I don't even know if
it would be a good time for my bil & mil for me to visit. But
it sure would take care of me trying to get more than a Saturday/Sunday
to go see her.
I slept in until 9 am today! Feel like I
could sleep some more and may do it. All the smoke in the air at work
has kept me with a headache since Wednesday - C mentioned he had one
as well yesterday.
I would build a fire if I have a fireplace. Instead I have my blankie, knitting & TV as well as the dogs to keep me company right now.
